The test under ETC will be free of cost for the students.


Higher Education Commission (HEC) has established Education Testing Council (ETC) under which it holds standardized entry tests from Fall 2017 admissions for public and private universities of Pakistan. The aim of constitution of ETC is to hold uniform, accessible and competitive assessment base for admissions to universities.


General Information

▪ Negative Marking: None
▪ Conduction: By HEC
▪ Validity: 02 Years

Eligibility: The student who has passed SSC/O-level and HSSC/A-level can apply for this test. The student who is waiting for result of second year can apply for this Entry Test. They will have to click on check box “Currently Enrolled” while entering data of intermediate in Profile. Syllabus: Test will be conducted from relevant syllabus of SSC and HSSC, so there is no special book for the preparation of entry test. HAT Paper Distribution

Q. What are the steps while applying for Entry Test Fall 2017?

Ans. Following are the four steps to apply for Entry Test Fall 2017
1. Account will be created on http://etc.hec.gov.pk with CNIC/B-Form, contact no., and email address of the applicant.
2. Profile will be created to enter information under personal, contact and educational Tabs using "My Profile" on left side of window
3. Click on “ETC Entry Test” available at the end of links on left side of window on Eportal. Then click on “Apply for Entry Test” under ETC Entry Test link
4. Select Test Name, Test Type, and Preferred Test Center and then click on “Apply for Test”.

Q. Entry Test Fall 2017 is valid for only Pakistani Universities?

Ans. Yes

Q. Entry Test Fall 2017 is valid for selected Public/Private Universities of Pakistan?

Ans. Yes it is however, only those universities which have opted the Entry Test for Fall 2017. List of the universities is available at Private Public Universities ETC

Q. What is the purpose of this test?

Ans. This test will be used for taking admissions at undergraduate level in public and private sector universities of Pakistan.

Q. Who is eligible for this Entry Test?

Ans. The student who has passed SSC/O-level and HSSC/A-level can apply for this test

Q. Whether a student can select more than one Test Centers?

Ans. No, student can select only one Test center.

Q. Whether a student may appear in more than one categories of this Entry Test?

Ans. No, a student is allowed to appear in only one category of Entry test.

Q. Whether a student can apply direct to university for this Entry Test?

Ans. No, student will directly apply to HEC through eportal.hec.gov.pk

Q. Is there any fee for this Entry Test?

Ans. No, Test will be conducted without any fee

Q. How a student may contact with HEC if facing any issue while applying?

Ans. A student may send email on etc@hec.gov.pk

Q. what will be use of test, If a student apply using any type of fake information?

Ans. The result of the student will be cancelled and will not be allowed to appear in the upcoming tests under ETC.

Q. For how many years, passed test will be valid?

Ans. The Test will be valid for two years.

Q. How to prepare for Entry Test for Fall 2017?

Ans. Test will be conducted from relevant syllabus of SSC and HSSC, so there is no special book for the preparation of entry test.

Ans. Entry Test for Fall 2017 Test will be paper based test.

Q. How many times test will be held in a year?

Ans. Test will be held more than one time in a year.

Q. If a student has passed intermediate before 2017, he/she will be eligible for this test?

Ans. Yes it is however, a student will have to meet eligible criteria for admission of the relevant university.
